Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) is conducting a study with the INSEAD to examine the ICT Development Index (IDI) and Networked Readiness Index (NRI) methodologies closely as well as Egypt's performance in the indices in order

The international community has recognized the potential benefits of ICT and therefore has been engaged in more research activities that tackle and measure the recent changes in ICTs worldwide. Besides, international organizations developed separate indices for measuring the level of ICTs in different countries and its impact on different sectors and they have included most of the world countries in these indices with the aim of tracking the performance of countries in ICT.
Egypt, as a country concerned with increasing its competitiveness, places a great emphasis on observing and monitoring its ICT status between countries in these international indices. Emanating from this aim, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) is conducting  a study with the INSEAD to examine the ICT Development Index (IDI) and Networked Readiness Index (NRI) methodologies closely as well as Egypt's performance in the indices in order to detect the reasons behind Egypt's bad scores in these indices.
The study includes examining both indices’ methodologies, as well as analyzing Egypt’s individual and regional performance in the IDI and NRI, the study is complemented with a SWOT analysis to identify possible reasons and explanations for Egypt’s unsatisfying rankings. Furthermore, an overview of Egypt’s initiatives and stakeholder interviews were conducted to reinforce the IDI and NRI analysis.
