Benchmarking Information and Communication Technologies in Health Systems- Joint EC- OECD Workshop- Brussels, 18-19 April 2013

The OECD had recently held a workshop in cooperation with the European Commission in Brussels on the 18th and 19th of April 2013, in order to get together international experts and relevant stakeholders on deployment of ICT in Health systems.
The workshop started by discussing the results of two 2012 -2013 surveys launched by the European Commission (DG CONNECT) on deployment and use of e-Health services among  European acute Hospitals and  General Practitioners (GP). The workshop also discussed the policy implication of the survey results as well as future surveys for international benchmarking.
One major important outcome of the workshop is that the OECD has finally developed a concrete questionnaire for measuring  ICT adoption and use in the health sector. The draft OECD model survey and methodological guide to measuring ICT adoption and use in the health sector was presented during the workshop, in order to ensure that the OECD model survey reflects current policy needs.  Country delegations and experts were invited to share perspectives on pilot testing, collection of data and results reporting. Worth mentioning that an Egyptian delegation from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology attended the workshop and participated actively regarding the feedback on the questionnaire.
