The 13th World Telecommunications/ICT Indicators Symposium (WTIS), Hiroshima – Japan, 30 November – 3 December 2015

The World Telecommunication Indicators symposium is considered one of the biggest and most important international events organized by the ITU (BDT). The symposium is concerned with discussing the international measurements and statistics in the ICT sector.  This event was attended by more 300 participants from 90 countries around the world including ICT, economy, industry and education ministers, as well as heads of ICT regulatory agencies and International Organizations, ICT companies CEOs along with international statistical experts. 
The symposium included a ministerial session on the role of ICT as a catalyst for sustainable development, as well as several high-level panel discussions addressing the future ICT trends and proposed policies for the growth of the sector in areas such as 5G and the Internet of Things and its measurements. In addition, the symposium sessions tackled relevant topics such as Big data and data revolution, the development of measurements in the field of the impact of ICT on sustainable development (SDG). Moreover, the event provided the results of the Expert Group on Telecommunication Indicators (EGTI) and the Expert Group on Households usage of ICT (EGH).
