1. ICT for SMEs
The project started in 2006 through the collaboration between the Egyptian Fund for Information and Communication Technology, Canadian Centre for Developmental Research and Microsoft Egypt to implement ICT for SMEs. The program aims at achieving the optimal use of ICT for developing small and medium enterprises and to raise their competitiveness by providing technical support to the owners of these projects in partnership with the NGOs in 19 governorates. "Ayadina" is the electronic gateway to ICTs for SMEs, a specialized portal related to the community development portal (Kenana Online). The portal offers many services to SMEs Business owners. It is noteworthy that the project has contributed significantly to the development of the capacity of many women to establish new successful projects in a large number of Egyptian governorates. The portal is designed to help women owning small and micro businesses to display and market their products "locally and internationally". The initiative succeeded in creating a database of nearly 500 women entrepreneurs. While the number of women who received advice in the area of small projects reached about 1600, in addition, about 3000 women have received training in various areas including computer skills and effective skills for the sales on the Internet since 2003.
